INFORMATION AND EDUCATION:


The Wyoming Natural Resource Foundation continues to support many information and educational efforts. A few of those efforts are listed below:

Southeast  FFA - The WNRF provided sponsorship for the Wyoming state champion Environmental and Natural Resources FFA team to attend and compete at the national convention.

Expanding knowledge and networks - The WNRF, in partnership with the WACD, local conservation districts and the Overland Trail Ranch, hosted the National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) Executive Director Conference in May 2008. Over 25 state Executive Directors and NACD staff and leaders attended the conference which was held in the beautiful Saratoga Valley.

Stately Trees of Wyoming - The Foundation was proud to assist in contributing to Project Learning Tree's production of the "Stately Trees of Wyoming" poster. The Foundation distributed over 200 of these posters to the Districts for display within public places throughout Wyoming's communities and schools.

Environmental Stewardship - Recognizing Wyoming ranchers with an outstanding stewardship ethic, the Foundation again provided sponsorship to the Wyoming Stock Grower's Association's Environmental Stewardship Award and Tour.

Forestry Field Days - The Foundation assisted in sponsoring Wyoming's Forestry Field Days, an opportunity for forestry professionals and interested conservationists to gather and expand their knowledge of forest health. This year, the Field Days is planned for early fall. Attendees will be provided information on topics such as Firewise and defensible space, identification an management of insects in farmstead windbreaks and forestry inventory and logging techniques.

Bringing You Water for Life Educational Campaign - The Foundation, as a partner with the Coalition for Wyoming Water, completed the third and final phase of a campaign to educate Wyoming citizens on the integral role that agriculture plays in providing water for production of food and fiber and community economic stability.

Honoring the late Senator Craig Thomas - In honor and recognition of his years of public service, the Foundation contributed to Special Olympics of Wyoming.

509 Capitol Court Campaign - The Foundation, along with WACD, teamed up with a number of conservation districts and partners across the country to provide contributions towards the restoration and enhancement of the National Association of Conservation Districts headquarters building, in Washington, D.C.
