2011 Gary Beach Scholarship

The
Wyoming Natural Resource Foundation recently announced the winner of the
2011 Gary Beach Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship was established
in 2006 to honor Gary Beach, a longtime employee of the Wyoming
Department of Environmental Quality and a strong supporter of Wyoming’s
natural resources.
“We are please to award the Gary Beach Memorial
Scholarship to Stacia Slowey, an Environmental Engineering student at
the University”, said Pete Jachowski, President of the Wyoming Natural
Resource Foundation.
Slowey, a junior at UW, worked as an Environmental
Engineering intern during the school year. She also plans to attend
graduate school and work in Wyoming once she has completed her degree.
Beach was instrumental in working with local
conservation districts to establish a grassroots driven watershed
planning effort to address Wyoming’s impaired waters. Thanks to the
generosity of Beach’s family the scholarship has been continued. For the
2011-12 academic year, the WNRF received 11 applications from students
at the University of Wyoming. Eligible students must be enrolled at the
Junior level or higher in an environment and natural resources, water
resources, rangeland ecology and watershed management or related field
and students planning to live and work in Wyoming after graduation were
given preference during selection. For more information visit

Thank you to all the sponsors
and participants that helped make the 2011 Cowboy Chuck and Chip golf
tournament a success!
